Linzolid 400 mg Tablet is a brand-name antibiotic produced by Incepta Pharmaceuticals in Bangladesh. Its active ingredient, linezolid, belongs to the oxazolidinone class and is used to treat various serious bacterial infections, especially those resistant to other antibiotics.

🔹 Uses of Linzolid 400 mg

Linezolid is effective against infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, including:

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)
Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium (VRE)
Streptococcus pneumoniae

Common indications include:

Community-acquired and nosocomial pneumonia
Complicated and uncomplicated skin and soft tissue infections
Infections caused by multidrug-resistant Gram-positive bacteri

In adults, the typical dosage for uncomplicated skin infections is 400 mg orally every 12 hours for 10 to 14 days

⚠️ Side Effects

Common side effects of linezolid include

Headache
Nausea and vomiting
Diarrhea
Dizziness

Serious side effects may occur, especially with prolonged use (beyond 28 days), and can include

Bone marrow suppression (e.g., thrombocytopenia, anemia)
Peripheral and optic neuropathy
Lactic acidosis
Serotonin syndrome, particularly when combined with serotonergic drugs

⚠️ Important Precautions

Avoid tyramine-rich foods (e.g., aged cheeses, cured meats) to reduce the risk of hypertensive reactions.
Do not use concurrently with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or serotonergic drugs without medical supervision.
Use with caution in patients with uncontrolled hypertension, thyroid disorders, or seizure history .
